ABC’s investigative journalism and news magazine TV show 20/20 is celebrating its 40th season this summer. On the June 15 episode, cameras will follow 20/20 digital producer Alexa Valiente to Brooklyn, New York where she visits the ice cream shop Ample Hills Creamery to celebrate. She interviews the founders, Jackie and Brian, who have created a special flavor for the show called The Scoop.
Ample Hills Creamery open its doors in 2011. They’re known for creating “over the top, playful, whimsical” flavors including The Raw Deal (vanilla ice cream with chocolate flakes and house-made brown butter cookie dough). The Scoop — a play on the 20/20 habit of scooping news stories and the traditional scooping of ice cream — is a marshmallow ice cream with chunks of blue velvet cake. A 4-pack of Ample Hills’ ice cream sells for $55 and ships free nationwide. (That’s about $13 per pint.) ABC News receives 10 percent of “The Scoop” sales and will donate all proceeds to FosterMore’s National Scholarship Fund for Foster Youth. 20/20 airs Fridays at 10pm on ABC.
