In the Roseanne episode “Go Cubs,” Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and Dan (John Goodman) are struggling to pay the bills, including their Wi-Fi bill. The Connors befriend their new neighbors to use the Internet so Mary can Skype with her mother who’s stationed in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Dan and his old friend Chuck sit down at the kitchen table to figure out how to make things work after losing an important job. (Chuck has spent many hours at that kitchen table, usually playing poker…)
Dan’s partner Chuck is portrayed by James Pickens, Jr. He’s also known for his roles on Grey’s Anatomy (Dr. Richard Webber), The X-Files (Alvin Kersh), The Practice (Detective Mike McKrrew), NYPD Blue (Lt. Joe Abner), Brooklyn South (Det. Reggis Simpson), and Beverly Hills, 90210 (Henry Thomas), among others. Pickens is also recognized for his roles in the films Ghosts of Mississippi (Medgar Evers) and Sleepers (Marlboro). Roseanne airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC, right before The Middle.
