On the Code Black episode “Better Angels,” Angus (Harry Ford) and Mario (Benjamin Hollingsworth) treat a patient who claims to be a psychic and envisions the staff singing and dancing throughout Angels Memorial Hospital. The doctors and nurses are seen singing along to the 2014 Hozier song “Angel of Small Death & the Codeine Scene” performed by John Ondrasik.
[“Angel of Small Death & the Codenie Scene” is on this Hozier album]
Born Vladimir John Ondrasik III, Ondrasik is also known by his stage name Five for Fighting. It’s a hockey term for a five-minute penalty for fighting on the ice. (He’s a L.A. Kings fan.) His first big hit was the 2001 single “Superman (It’s Not Easy).” Code Black airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CBS, right after SEAL Team.
[NOTE about streaming: Cable cutters can watch a live stream of any CBS show through Amazon Prime or CBS ALL-ACCESS. Both options offer free trials.]
