For its season finale, Kevin Can Wait brings out the big guns in the guest star game: Adam Sandler and Chris Rock join forces with Mike DelGiudice from Billy Joel’s band to rock out retro style. The plot has Kevin (Kevin James) convinced to reform his old band, Smokefish. Sal Governale, the excellent Howard Stern Show writer and producer, adds to Long Island throwback flavor by playing a music manager named Lance. This is going to be a big show.
The episode is called “A Band Done” — but Smokefish has the kind of star-power lineup that might convince some real-life Lance to get these guys on the road together, like Jack Black’s Heavy D or Dan Aykroyd’s Blues Brothers. Sal Governale could write up a segment for the Stern Show on SiriusXM and these guys could definitely get residency somewhere on Long Island, if not the Billy Joel-style residency at Madison Square Garden where DelGiudice is used to playing. Kevin Can Wait airs Mondays at 8pm on CBS, right before Man with a Plan. The “Smokefish” episode airs on May 7.
