On The Voice, rookie coach Kelly Clarkson and her pop star advisor Hailee Steinfeld help singers D.R. King and Jackie Foster prepare for their Battle Round. Jackie is the 22-year-old Berklee College of Music graduate who sings with New England’s alt-rock band Self Portraits. D.R. King is the 35-year-old singer who quit teaching elementary school to pursue his music career in New York. For their Battle, Jackie and D.R. sing the Harry Styles ballad “Sign of the Times.” (It was his debut solo single outside One Direction.) And yes D.R. hits the high notes.

For his Blind Audition on The Voice, D.R. sang the Imagine Dragons song “Believer.” Kelly and Blake Shelton turned their chairs. Before D.R. chose Kelly, Blake told D.R. he has “an explosive voice.” Everyone in the audience could feel every note. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
