It’s been a dramatic season on Sister Wives. Kody Brown and three of his wives (Meri, Janelle, Christine) risked arrest to protest new legislation related to plural families in Utah. Maddie delivered Kody’s first grandchild — a boy named Axel. There have been lots of ups and downs. When Kody and Christine were told that their daughter Ysobel’s scoliosis was worsening, they sought an alternative to surgery. Ysobel is enrolled in an exercise program to help straighten the curve of her spine. So far, so good.
In front of a camera, Kody (with his trademark long frizzy hair pulled back in a ponytail!) spoke passionately about their decision not to opt for surgery. “I’m not interested in having her quality of life challenged through this surgery.” Ysobel’s mother Christine explains that there are success stories from people who have had the surgery but there are others who have been in pain ever since the surgery. “And right now Ysobel isn’t in pain and it’s not debilitating. Christine says Ysobel is gaining confidence in fighting back. Sister Wives airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC, right before Three Wives, One Husband starring polygamist Abel Morrison and his three wives.
