Leslie Pierson of Seattle, Washington is the founder of GoodHangups, removable magnet stickers used to hang art, posters, Valentine’s cards, recipes, maps, you name it. The magnet sticker adheres to pretty much any material — wood, stone, brick, glass, Ikea furniture, you get the idea. It’s a great solution to the problem of using nails, thumbtacks, and sticky stuff that leave a mark on your wall. In September 2016, Pierson pitched her business on Shark Tank. She went into Tank seeking an investment of $100,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity of GoodHangups. Pierson made a deal with the Queen of QVC, Lori Greiner — $100,000 as a loan at 10 percent equity, increasing to 20 percent if the loan is not repaid within a year.
[GoodHangups are on sale at Amazon]
Since Shark Tank, Greiner continues to sell out GoodHangups on QVC (see March post below). GoodHangups are available online (see link above) and in giant retail stores including Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY, among others. On a personal note, Pierson’s 7-year-old son Alex has caught the entrepreneurial bug. He launched his first Kickstarter campaign for his card game, Taco vs. Burrito.
