President Donald Trump delivers the traditional State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, January 30, telecast from the House chamber. If you don’t want to watch or listen to Trump speak for two hours, you can tune into Bravo, one of the few networks that will not broadcast the address. Instead, Bravo is airing a new episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Over the years, some of the wives have been critical of Trump.
In the video below, which was filmed in 2015 when Trump announced his presidential run on the Republican ticket, Lisa Rinna and Kyle Richards are asked if they’re going to vote for Trump. “It sure does make for good TV, doesn’t it?” Rinna says with a smile. She adds, “Never underestimate Donald Trump.” Kyle says if he wins “he’ll have to make it up to the Mexicans.” Kyle’s husband was born and raised in Mexico. (Kyle’s sister Kim Richards once dated Trump.) After Trump was elected, Kyle appeared on the Trump-less season of Celebrity Apprentice with former Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (who did not vote for Trump) as the host. President-elect Trump commented on the show’s lower ratings in his absence in a Twitter war with Schwarzenegger. In the second video below, Kyle Richards encouraged Americans who don’t support Trump to watch the show, “because clearly it (higher ratings) bothers him.” It would presumably really get under the president’s skin if a good percentage of Americans watched The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (9pm on Bravo) instead of his State of the Union address. Bravo’s Real Housewives obviously aren’t scared of Trump’s ratings — if they were, they’d show a rerun.
I have spent enough time with Trump to say he should never ever be president. #debatenight
