The coolest Shark on ABC’s wildly popular entrepreneur showcase Shark Tank is Daymond John. All the Sharks have style, but only one made his millions on style itself, and that’s Daymond. Raised in the same Queens New York neighborhood of breakout rap and acting sensation L.L. Cool J, Daymond built his success on smarts and daring, starting a clothing line that made billions. Since becoming ever more famous as the cool Shark, he’s distinguished himself by being brutally honest in sharing his hits and misses with the public, revealing the deals he made that didn’t work out — and there were many of them. This is a man who doesn’t keep his secrets: Daymond John shares them. He shared his thyroid cancer diagnosis with the world last May — update: he’s doing well. But he shared it in typically cool style — enough to encourage others who are battling cancer, but not so much to draw undue attention to himself.
[Think and Grow Rich, a Daymond John favorite]
Good Morning America, where Daymond revealed his diagnosis, has Daymond on this week, and the show is promoting his appearance as tune in to learn Daymond John’s secret. But John has already revealed the biggest secrets to his success in books, both written and recommended. Here are three of Daymond John’s secret weapons. First the business entrepreneurial classic Think and Grow Rich, which he says he’s read 20 times. Next two books by Daymond himself, most notably The Power of Broke, where he shows that the limitations that a lack of capital present are equaled by the opportunities those limitations provide to a savvy entrepreneur. And out now in 2018, Daymond’s latest book: Rise and Grind: Outperform, Outwork, and Outhustle Your Way to a More Successful and Rewarding Life. If you don’t feel like reading (though you should!), Daymond brings you the video version of his secret in Daymond on Demand, a course that costs $1,600. Good Morning America airs weekdays at 9am on ABC. Shark Tank airs Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
