In the Criminal Minds spooky episode “The Bunker,” the BAU investigates when several women go missing in the state of Virginia. All the abductions happened around midnight. When they figure out what the women have in common, the investigation leads Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and A.J. Cook (Jennifer Jareau) to a hidden and highly secured bunker. There, they meet unsub Lawrence Coleman. Coleman introduces his captives (women and children) to Reid as “his patients.” As Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) says from the outside, “It’s like the twilight zone” down there.
Coleman is portrayed by Darrell Hammond. The stand-up comedian is best known for his impersonations (Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, John McCain, Chris Matthews, and Celebrity Jeopardy! playing misanthrope Sean Connery) during his many years on Saturday Night Live. Hammond has also posed as Colonel Sanders for KFC TV commercials. Fun fact about this episode: Aisha Tyler (Dr. Tara Lewis) directs. Criminal Minds airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS, right after SEAL Team.
