School counselor Kelly Oriard and special education teacher Callie Christensen are the two entrepreneurs (and best friends since high school!) behind Slumberkins. It’s a hybrid of a stuffed animal and a travel blanket. There are five cuddly creatures to choose from: Slumber Sloth, Bigfoot, Yeti, Fox, and Hammerhead, and each comes either in the original Silken variety, Ultra-plush variety, and with or without a copy of Sleepytime Rhymes. Oriard and Christensen are pitching Slumberkins on Shark Tank on Sunday, November 11.

One of the Slumberkins taglines is “Cuddly creatures with intention.” Each creature addresses an “intention” that parents might want to teach their child. For example, the Sloth addresses the importance of Relaxation. Yeti talks about mindfulness, and Hammerhead is all about finding conflict resolution. Prices vary from $36 to $44. Each Slumberkins is about 14 inches long and 9 inches wide at the feet. Copies of Sleepytime Rhymes sell separately for $9.99 each. Slumberkins has an advantage going into the Shark Tank — a strong social media presence. With more than 46,000 followers on Instagram, they receive reviews and cute photos of Slumberkins in action (see below). Shark Tank airs Sundays at 9pm and 10pm on ABC.
