Frank Scozzafava was the founder of Mix Bikini, a line of reversible and interchangeable bikini swimsuits. He and his bikini vision entered the Shark Tank in 2014 to pitch Mix Bikini (now Versakini). Barbara Corcoran invested $50,000 in exchange for 25 percent in the company. In a Beyond the Tank episode, it was revealed that Scozzafava threw a lavish party in Manhattan (with a price tag of at least $50k) to celebrate the Shark Tank deal. Corcoran was worried. But the good news is Mix Bikini designer Kelsey Duffy has turned the ship around — including the re-branding of Mix Bikini as Versakini. Scozzafava went on to start another company, Zapp Share Ride, which rents electric vehicles (scooters, small carts) by the hour.
One year after Shark Tank, Kelsey partnered with former Project Runway contestant Amanda Perna to create a line of Versakinis featuring Amanda’s prints which they launched at Miami Swim Week 2016. It was well-received. Check out the Spring/Summer 2018 collection below. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9pm on ABC. [Related: 27 Favorite ‘Shark Tank’ Products — New List]
