There is a longstanding trend of artists who wear hats while they compete on The Voice. Sundance Head won with his had on, and Vanessa Ferguson finally took hers off last season to the delight of viewers. Jon Mero on Season 13 is making the transition too. The 31-year-old originally from Des Moines, Iowa (he now lives in Atlanta, Georgia) wore his black wide-brimmed hat during his Blind Audition (“Versace on the Floor”) and joined Team Adam. He continued wearing it for his “I Wish It Would Rain” Battle against Brandon Brown, his “Blame It on the Boogie” Knockout Round and Playoffs. But like any good artist, Jon knows the importance of change.

Representing Team Adam (with Adam Cunningham and Addison Agen), Jon Mero announced one day prior to the Top 12 Live Show that he’s taking his signature hat off. Seems like a good move as he’ll sing the slow romantic MAJOR ballad, “Why I Love You.” You can’t get close to someone wearing that big brim! The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
