On the Season 2 premiere of Adventure Capitalists, “Sandstone Country,” the investors are pitched a revolutionary mountain bike (prices range from $3500 to $7000) and MelloShip, a solar-powered motorized hammock boat. The 13-foot-long eco-friendly pontoon comes with a hammock frame on top which supports up to 500 lbs. You can even program the MelloShip to follow a pre-set route thanks to GPS, so you really don’t have to do anything but sit back in the hammock and relax.
The founder of MelloShip, James Womack of Princeton, New Jersey, launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2016 with the goal of raising $350,000 but less than $2000 was pledged. The hitch is: the MelloShip (which they thought they could sell at $2500) doesn’t make the motor, or the solar panel, or the battery as seen in the video. Those are extra. The MelloShip does however come with a convenient emergency exit (as demonstrated with humor below). P.S. Womack is a successful entrepreneur. He and his wife own and operate the yoga retreat Equilibrio in Nicaragua. Adventure Capitalists airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CNBC.
