In the Criminal Minds episode “To a Better Place,” the BAU team investigates three similar cases. All three involve finding the remains of murder victims in old suitcases. The unsub William Lynch (Alberto Frezza) is seen introducing his victims to his grandmother Edith Lynch who might not be as innocent as she looks.
Edith Lynch is portrayed by Mary Jo Deschanel, mother of actress Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) and Emily Deschanel (Bones). As an actress, matriarch Mary Jo is known for her roles on Twin Peaks (Eileen Hayward) and in the film The Right Stuff (Annie Glenn), among others. Criminal Minds airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.
