The New York Knicks got Michael Beasley, and the big scorer who has first-rate basketball pedigree announced just who he is. Beasley says he is “your favorite player’s favorite player.” In other words, those who know basketball… they know how good Michael Beasley is. And how good he can be. As we attested to in an earlier article about Beasley’s free agent value, “hardly anyone was better than Beasley coming out of high school or during his single record-smashing year at Kansas State. In the late 2000s, the 6’10” do-it-all forward who played his AAU ball with a guy named Kevin Durant was as sure a bet as Secretariat.”
If “Beasley hasn’t had a Kevin Durant-like NBA career,” how many players have? A little time in China instead of OKC may have taken the luster off of Beasley for some fans. “But NBA teams looking to fill reserve spots absolutely can’t ignore Beasley in 2017, because the free agent has accumulated numbers that may surprise,” 2p wrote. Beasley has put up 19.6 points and grabbed 7.5 boards per 36 minutes since 2013. He’s shot 50-plus% from the floor. His last two seasons, in Houston and Milwaukee, those numbers are higher. And he probably just became teammate Carmelo Anthony’s favorite player, so Beasley’s speaking the truth with his claims:
