Carol Foster of Compton, California is the truck driver turned entrepreneur behind Mee-Ma’s Louisiana Gumbo Brick. Based on her grandmother’s recipe, Foster makes a frozen gumbo base which customers at home can cook in less than 45 minutes just by adding water and meat and spices if desired. She pitched her business on Shark Tank in 2013. She went into the Tank asking for $200,000 in exchange for 20 percent equity. She accepted an offer of $200k for 50 percent by Lori Greiner and Kevin O’Leary.
