Gus Malzahn has been the head coach of Auburn University’s football team since 2009. But he’s also known for his years as a successful high school football coach in Arkansas (Springdale High School, Shiloh Christian). While at Shiloh, he developed his hurry-up, no-huddle philosophy into his offense. The idea is to speed up the game, lengthen the actual playing time while wearing down the other team. Malzahn took Shiloh to four state title appearances and two state championships. In 2003, he wrote the book The Hurry-Up, No-Huddle: An Offensive Philosophy.

The 88-page book includes 14 special tips for running the system and still gets 5-star reviews on Amazon 14 years after it was first published. Stonebreaker recently wrote: “Coach Gus is as good an author as he is a football coach. He deals as much with WHY you do something as he does with the HOW.” Auburn plays Clemson at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 9 at 7pm on ESPN.
