ABS Protein Pancakes is a line of low-calorie, low-carb, gluten-free, high protein pancake mixes. The mix is available in three flavors: Cinnamon Swirl, Chocolate Chip, and Vanilla Cake Batter. To give you an idea of the nutritional intake: four (4) ABS Protein Pancakes vanilla cake batter flavored pancakes contain 26 grams of protein, and are less than 250 calories. The founders of ABS, Ashley Drummonds and Josh McClelland, pitched their food product business on Shark Tank in January 2016.
Some of the Sharks thought the product was too expensive. When the episode aired, a one-pound bag of ABS Protein Pancakes was $49.99. But that didn’t stop Daymond John from offering Ashley an investment of $120k in exchange for 42 percent equity in ABS Protein Pancakes. (They went into the Tank looking for $120,000 for 40 percent.) John said he thought he could bring the price down. And they did. Since Shark Tank, the price of a one-pound bag of ABS Protein Pancakes has been lowered to $39.95, and the company offers a subscription service – a monthly membership saves customers 15 percent.
