Toymail is a line of plush animal creatures with a built-in voice mail app. It’s designed for kids to exchange messages between each other and to parents, grandparents, and other family and friends you want your child to be in touch with. Co-founder and MIT grad Guari Nanda pitched the business on Shark Tank and made a deal with investors Lori Greiner and Chris Sacca — $600,000 for 5 percent. Prior to the Shark Tank episode airing, Nanda and her business partner Audry Hill raised $1.5 million from Amazon, Verizon and startup incubator, Y Combinator.

After Shark Tank, Nanda told Forbes magazine: “We want to keep updating our offerings, the way Snapchat releases different filters often to keep people coming back.”
