Newly acquired Celtics forward Marcus Morris spent the past four seasons with the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns. And in those four season Morris did something that every NBA coach absolutely loves — he was always ready to play. Beginning with the 2013-14 season and going through last year, Morris played in 82, 81, 80 and 79 games. In other words, he missed a total of six games over the course of four seasons.
The Celtics had a breakout season last year, but didn’t have enough to ultimately represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. This year with moves that bring Morris, who averaged 14 ppg in the last two seasons, Aron Baynes and Gordon Hayward to Boston — coupled with the reported disharmony in Cleveland — the Celtics looked poised to take their progress further. As Coach Brad Stevens has said, the sole Celtics goal is a title.
