In the Bar Rescue episode “Things That Go Pahrump in the Night” Jon Taffer does his recon work outside Paddy’s Bar in Pahrump, Nevada. He’s shocked to see one of the young bartenders show up drunk – so much so that she passes out on a couch in front of the clientele and the owner Pat Rodgers. She bought Paddy’s Pub in 2006. She ran the roadside bar for nine years before handing it over to her son Russ to manage. But according to the Bar Rescue sneak peek, within six months of taking over, Russ and his staff “started to play at the bar more than work.” On top of that, Russ was diagnosed with corneal degeneration. Russ says, “I’m going blind” and “I’ve taken well over $100,000 in debt.”

After the Bar Rescue rebranding (Pat’s Courtyard Bar) and remodeling job, Russ Rodgers spoke with Pahrump Valley Times. Rogers reports that the most noticeable difference is the lighting and “it’s a little more tropical” due to the courtyard theme. The dance floor is bigger and there’s a new sound system and Pat’s serves food — 5 gourmet sandwiches. Rodgers also says that Pat’s is “shooting for a slightly older crowd.” Rodgers assures customers, “We didn’t old-up the place…we’re still edgy” with pool tables and karaoke.
