Famous NASCAR driver Danica Patrick took a trip on foot over to some booing fans to let them know she’s a person with feelings who gets hurt by the boos. Patrick was responding to fans who weren’t too happy she didn’t sign as many autographs as they’d like. Patrick decided to speak her mind, prefacing her speech with the reason for her candor: “Since I’m old, instead of taking the booing, I want to tell you I’m doing the very best I can.”
Patrick went on to explain her position in a very calm tone, though she was clearly frustrated — proving that a world class driver needs to stay composed no matter what the circumstances. (Or at least that it helps.) Call it maturity, perhaps, instead of being “old” but Patrick gets her points across without resorting to a rant, using a measured cadence and a reasoned argument.
