Marisa McKaye is one of several young female singers competing on America’s Got Talent, Season 12. But she might be the only one who has already released an album. In February 2017, the 12-year-old singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, released the seven-track album “Colorful Girl.”
One of the seven original songs on “Colorful Girl” includes “Warrior (Emilia’s Song)” which Marisa wrote for a friend named Emilia, 12, who is battling cancer. The lyrics include the lines: “I want you to have this song/ I want to keep your spirit strong/ We want you and need you here because this world is where you belong.” Marisa performed the song at the legendary Birdbird Cafe in Nashville (below). America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
