Isaiah Thomas made point guard history scoring 53 points in Game 2 against the Wizards. But what’s really extraordinary is how open Thomas was for some of his shots. What happened to guard the hot shooter? Because everybody in the building knew who had the hot hand, yet Thomas has what seems like about ten minutes to set up for at least two of these corner jumpers.
Sure, Thomas made some crazy tough baskets in the paint in traffic. And when he’s ridiculously open on the step-back midrange jumpers it’s because he creates that space himself with his speed and penetration threat.
