CNN reports that federal prosecutors investigating the possible involvement of Russia in the 2016 presidential election have issued grand jury subpoenas to associates of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Congressional investigators are looking into whether Flynn properly disclosed a $45,000 payment for an appearance he made in Moscow with the news outlet Russia Today. Flynn’s lawyer, Robert Kelner, has said in a statement that his client briefed the Defense Intelligence Agency “extensively” regarding the speaking event “before and after the trip.”
D.C. attorney Robert Kelner is a former speechwriter for the late Jack Kemp, the Republican Party’s nominee for Vice President with Bob Dole in 1996. In 2006 Kemp and 2004 vice-presidential nominee John Edwards co-chaired the Council on Foreign Relations task force on Russia. They produced a document called “Russia’s Wrong Direction: What the United States Can and Should Do.”

He’s also an ex-Clinton adviser. Interesting choice of headline. https://t.co/EYKoDP3guT
