Oscar and Grammy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx (Ray, 2004) is the host of the new TV game show Beat Shazam. The show is reminiscent of the 1950s game show Name That Tune but with the 21th century technology behind apps like Shazam which identifies songs almost immediately when heard.

Why is Foxx hosting the show? Here are 5 reasons:
- Foxx is an executive producer of Beat Shazam (along with The Voice creator Mark Burnett and Don’t Forget the Lyrics creator Jeff Appleoff)
- Foxx has been a popular artist on Shazam for years, with hits including his famous “Gold Digger” tune and “In Love By Now” (see video below).
- Fox misses Foxx! After five seasons, The Jamie Foxx Show ended in 2001. 16 years is too long!
- Foxx’s latest movie was the 2014 reboot of the musical film Annie (he played Will Stacks, the Daddy Warbucks role).
- He’s currently filming the action/adventure film Robin Hood (he’s playing Little John) but it won’t be out until March 2018.
Beat Shazam airs Thursdays at 8pm on FOX.
