Marilyn Allen was 30 years old when her body was found in a lake on Camp Pendleton Marine Base in San Diego, California in 1992. Nine years later, in 2001, former US Marine Roosevelt Bernard Gipson II, 29, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter. Prosecutors say Gipson argued with Allen because he was not satisfied with the oral sex Allen performed for $10. He strangled her and then dumped her body in the lake. Gipson’s attorney said his client “snapped” and was afraid of getting robbed.
In 2001, Gipson was sentenced to 11 years in prison which his attorney, James Alcantara, said could be a life sentence as Gipson reportedly has the HIV virus. 48 Hours: NCIS airs Fridays at 10pm.
