In the Madam Secretary episode ‘Good Bones,’ Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) finds herself on a video call with the young president of Kyrgyzstan, and realizes afterwards that she essentially promised that Hollywood star Ashley Whittaker (guest star Julia Schlaepfer) would travel to Asia to attend his birthday party where they will “slay” according to the president. If Ashley goes, the president agrees to help end human trafficking in his country. Now all Elizabeth has to do is convince Ashley, and her mother Jeri, to go.

Ashley’s mother Jeri Whittaker is portrayed by Cady Huffman. She’s known for her roles on the TV shows The Good Wife (Marina Vassel) and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Huffman is also well-known for her work on Broadway. She won a Tony Award in 2001 as Best Actress (Featured Role – Musical) for the Mel Brooks musical “The Producers”. It was her second Tony nomination; she was the lead in the 1991 production of “The Will Rogers Follies” with Keith Carradine who plays President Dalton on Madam Secretary which airs Sundays at 9pm on CBS.
