On Season 12 of The Voice, Stephanie Rice is the 27-year-old preacher’s daughter from Texas. For her Blind Audition she sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Piece by Piece,” and explained after her performance that her family had disowned her after she came out as gay. Stephanie has channeled a lot of her hurt into her music. Just one year ago, she recorded her first album, Dear Misery. When she was writing the album she said, “I felt like I was on the brink of healing—like I had reached a point where I didn’t feel damaged, broken, or bitter anymore. I had finally found myself on the better side of life, and was able to look back and say, ‘Dear misery, you’re not welcome here.’”

At the Knockout Round, Stephanie will perform the Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars song “Safe and Sound.” She faces Troy Ramsey who will sing his own version of Sia’s “Chandelier”. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
