Michael “Mike” Roper is the president and CEO of Taco Bueno, the Tex-Mex restaurant chain based in Texas. (The 183 Taco Bueno restaurants are mostly in Texas, with a handful in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and now Colorado.) When Roper goes on Undercover Boss, he runs into an employee with a “beef” with upper management and he learns the hard way how to operate a forklift in the warehouse.
Before joining Taco Bueno in 2013, Roper was “a sandwich man” at Quizno’s Subs, where he was Chief Operating Officer, EVP of Restaurant Operations, and four other VP positions. He owned a number of Quizno’s Subs franchisees and four restaurants in Chicago, so he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to restaurants…forklifts, not so much. Undercover Boss airs Fridays at 8pm on CBS.
