CNBC often airs reruns of the popular TV show Undercover Boss — but the 2012 episode featuring then CEO of Diamond Resorts International is being shown again at a very opportune time. In June 2016, Stephen J. Cloobeck sold the Diamond Resorts International company for $2.2 billion to Apollo Global Management. That same month Cloobeck donated $1 million to Priorities USA Action, the largest Democratic super PAC, which by September had amassed $132 million in support of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Just this week, The New York Times reported that Mr. Cloobeck, who is “armed with an immense fortune and an easy, boastful manner” said “he was still deciding whether to run to be Nevada’s governor in 2018.” There hasn’t been a Democratic governor in Nevada since 1999. The Undercover Boss episode featuring Cloobeck will air again on Saturday, April 1 at 9pm on CNBC.
