Individual honors are secondary when you play for the New England Patriots. It’s all about the team first — and besides, they give QB Tom Brady all the individual honors anyway. Even Brady thought running back James White should have been named the MVP of Super Bowl LI, an award Brady got. Boston native Conan O’Brien was in Brady’s camp on the issue, too, so when Conan had White on his TBS show, the host gave White a new MVP truck.
Ford — a big Super Bowl sponsor — also agreed with Conan and Brady about who deserved new wheels. The company sent a sharp new Ford F-150 to Conan so he could give it to White on the show, free of charge. Back in the day, the Super Bowl MVP used to receive a car or truck as part of the prize. White, who scored the winning Super Bowl touchdown, revives the tradition by getting a truck this year even though he wasn’t named MVP. Now the Almost-MVP-On-The-Winning-Team — that’s who gets the truck. Check it out below.
