Serge Ibaka has gone deep into the playoffs, contributing significantly at both ends for deep runs by the OKC Thunder over his solid career. Ibaka wasn’t going to see any playoff light in Orlando, and the Raptors have hit the skids after looking like they may rise to the top of the Eastern Conference. Now Ibaka is leaving the sunny but loss-filled Orlando for the cold but playoff-certain Toronto.
The 6’10” Ibaka hasn’t faded in his eighth year in the NBA — he’s equaling a career high 15.1 ppg this season on an Orlando team that doesn’t win. The Raptors (32-24) have lost three in a row and six of their last ten, putting last year’s Eastern Conference finalists behind four teams — the Cavaliers, Celtics, Wizards and Hawks — in the standings.
I’d like to thank the @OrlandoMagic organization, coaches, teammates and fans for my time in Orlando. Best of luck in the future
