Gojira is the French metal band that moved to New York City in November 2014. They built their own studio, Silver Cord Studio, in a warehouse in Queens where they started to record in 2015. But when news traveled to New York that the mother of Joe Duplantier (vocals, guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums) was ill and in the hospital, Gojira’s recording studio went silent. The Duplantiers were by their mother’s side in France when she died. When they returned, they produced their sixth studio album Magma which includes the songs “Pray” and “Only Pain”.
