And now the quirky story of Major League Baseball player Nick Franklin, who drives for Uber in the offseason. Franklin is a decent hitter and infielder for the Tampa Bay Rays whose MLB salary was $507,500 last year. That’s not A-Rod money, of course, but the President of the United States makes less ($400K). Still Franklin drove for Uber a few times during the offseason — not so much for the cash but to keep busy. Marc Topkin, a Rays reporter for the Tampa Bay Times, shared this lovely little tidbit about the enterprising Nick Franklin.

Franklin has a shot to start at second base next year. But he’ll still be in demand by rideseekers. Topkin reveals that Franklin, who drove for Uber before the money started coming in, has a 4.8 rating.
