In the Season 5 premiere episode of Black Ink Crew, ‘Hail Ceaser!’, Ceaser and his crew are back and celebrating the opening of his new shop on 125th Street. While Teddy takes over as manager of the 113th Street shop, there are a number of new tattoo artists to meet including Young Bae.
Young Bae left Seoul, Korea to move to the United States in 2007, when she was 22. She says she left Korea because there, “If you’re born poor, you’re going to be poor and your kids are going to be poor and I didn’t want that.” She opened her own tattoo shop, “it was the size of a bathroom” with two machines and two chairs she found on the street. She is owner of Diamond Tattoos in Times Square (W. 41st Street). Black Ink Crew airs Wednesdays at 8pm on VH1.
