At the 74th Annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, actress Meryl Streep will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award. With her will be her husband of 38 years, Don Gummer. Gummer is an artist — a sculptor who was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He earned both his BFA and MFA in art at the Yale School of Art. Streep also went to Yale, getting an MFA from the Yale School of Drama after her degree from Vassar.

Gummer’s work is in the public collections of The Butler Institute of American Art, Evansville Museum of Arts, and Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, among others. In the 1990s, Gummer started creating large outdoor works with stainless steel, aluminum, and stained glass. Gummer and Streep have four children: actresses Mamie and Grace Grummer, model Louisa, and musician Henry.
