Theresa and Robert Frejo of Laguna Niguel, California are the entrepreneurs behind Veggie Mama Garden Pops, frozen pops made with real fruits and vegetables and organic agave nectar. Flavors include Cucumber Citrus, Carrot Berry and Sweet Potato Pie. (They’re also gluten-free and dairy-free and a good snack for vegans.) The Frejos pitched Veggie Mama Garden Pops on Shark Tank in 2013 and made a deal with Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran — $75,000 for 20 percent equity.
Since Shark Tank, the Veggie Mama brand has pivoted. The website now largely promotes Veggie Mama Cleanses, drink mixes and protein powders. Theresa explains the pivot on the website: “One day (okay, several) my husband and I woke up feeling like garbage telling ourselves we needed a major change…After consulting with doctors and health industry professionals we decided to make it a point to cleanse our bodies periodically starting with a 3-week detox diet, and moving towards shorter, more frequent juice cleanses lasting 1-3 days. The results have been life changing.”
