The rock band Nickelback gets to be the punchline a lot. Recently it was revealed that cops in Canada were threatening potential drunk drivers with a sonic as well as monetary punishment: “When we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a years driving suspension we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the offices copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail,” wrote the cops on Facebook.
Now Nickelback is getting dissed by a far more prominent couple of voices: billionaire Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and famed movie actor Morgan Freeman. Zuckerberg is trying to keep up his coding prowess by designing an Artificial Intelligence system for his home. He asked Freeman to do the voice of his private AI, and Freeman complied. Zuckerberg just showed off some video of his AI system in action and even this makes room for a Nickelback dig. To prove his AI’s intelligence and humor at once, Zuckerberg and his system (called Jarvis) engage in this exchange:
Zuckerberg: “Play us some good Nickelback songs.”
Jarvis/Morgan Freeman: “I’m sorry Mark, I’m afraid I can’t do that. There are no good Nickelback songs.”
Nickelback, having sold millions and millions of records, is probably comfortable enough in their skin to chuckle and enjoy the exposure. At least we know if they do get upset, the band members know better to get drunk and drive around.
