The Odd Couple episode ‘Taffy Days’ is a tribute to the original show’s creator Garry Marshall who played Oscar Madison’s (Matthew Perry) father Walter before passing away at the age of 81 in July 2016. A handful of actors from Marshall’s previous sitcoms including Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days make cameo appearances as Oscar carries out his father’s wishes to have his ashes spread behind the candy factory he used to own.

Patty is portrayed by Garry Marshall’s sister Penny Marshall. As an actress, she’s best known for her role as Laverne DeFazio on Laverne & Shirley, Happy Days, and Mork & Mindy, and for her role as Myrna on the original The Odd Couple (Myrna). Marshall is also well recognized as a movie director — including two huge Tom Hanks hits (Big and A League of Their Own). The Odd Couple airs Mondays at 9:30pm on CBS.
