In the Life in Pieces episode ‘Boxing Opinion Spider Beard’, while Jen (Zoe-Lister Jones) tries to get a second opinion after her brother-in-law Tim (Dan Bakkedahl) tells her she needs tonsil surgery, John (James Brolin) goes behind his daughter Heather’s (Betsy Brandt) back and has his granddaughter Samantha (Holly J. Barrett) skip her ballet class to take boxing lessons. John takes Samantha to see his trainer Troy.
Troy is portrayed by world and national boxing champion Victor Ortiz. This isn’t the 29-year-old welterweight’s acting debut. He had roles in The Expendables 3 and Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal playing boxer Ramone. Life in Pieces airs Thursdays at 9:30pm on CBS.
