In the Billion Dollar Buyer episode ‘Scale Up or Give Up’, Tilman travels to California to meet with Designer Drains. Just as their name states clearly, the company designs, manufactures and sells decorative shower drains or as they like to say “jewelry for your shower.” The business has made $100,000 in revenue but needs to grow. Tilman is dismayed that not everyone on staff is selling. One guy does all the design, another guy handles the manufacturing, and another handles sales. Tilman tells/yells at the young staff that they all need to be selling. “You’re only one opportunity away from growing this business.”
Designer Drains are available in round, square and oval shapes (in varying diameters) and are sold on the company website and on Amazon, e.g., a 3.25” round Designer Drain retails for $65 to $85. Billion Dollar Buyer airs Tuesdays at 10 PM on CNBC.
