Watching sports on TV? You’re going to lean in to get a better look at Toyota’s ad for its Yaris Heykers model. The Yaris spot is like a trailer for an action/thriller movie. There’s no music, no dialogue — just a good old fashion car chase infused with badass extreme sports tricks. All you hear is gears changing and the gravel beneath the wheels of the speeding Yaris cutting through an abandoned shipyard. Racing along with the car are a mountain biker, a skateboarder, and an acrobatic badass who flips from the top of one container to another while the Yaris zooms between. “Strengthened with tougher stance and higher ground clearance for the adventurous urban souls” is the tagline.
Italian sportsman Diego Caverzasi is the MTB rider featured in the ad, which was filmed in Indonesia and directed by fellow Italian Alberto Accettulli.
