College student Chandra Levy went missing on May 1, 2001 near Washington, D.C., where she was working an intern and allegedly having an affair with married California Congressman Gary Condit. In May 2002, Levy’s remains were found in DC’s Rock Creek Park. In 2010, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, Ingmar Guandique (who was earlier found guilty of assaulting two women in the same park), was found guilty of murdering Levy and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Prosecutors relied on testimony from his former cellmate, Armando Morales, who said Guandique confessed to killing Levy.
In 2015, a woman named Babs Proller met Morales at a hotel in Maryland where they were both staying. Morales told Proller he had been released from jail and Proller believed he had changed his ways. However, Proller became suspicious of Morales and recorded one of their conversations in which Morales allegedly says he lied about Guandique’s confession because “the prosecutors wanted me to lie. They knew they had the right guy. They just needed somebody to say it.” Proller handed over her recordings and in July 2016, charges against Guandique were dropped without prejudice. Since 2015, Proller has been working as an actress. She’s appeared on House of Cards twice (as Clerk of Courts), and Notorious (as a news reporter). According to imdb, Proller will appear in the 2017 action crime film Sleepless starring Jamie Foxx who plays “a cop with a connection to the criminal underworld scours a nightclub in search of his kidnapped son.” ABC 20/20 will air its investigation and interview with Babs Proller on Friday, November 4 at 10pm.
