Enigmatic and super-talented tennis pro Nick Kyrgios is capable of beating anybody. But his main victim is very often himself. The 21-year-old Aussie was fined and suspended after a Shanghai Masters performance that the ATP assessed as: “Conduct Contrary to the Integrity of the Game.” That conduct? Kyrgios blatantly stopped trying to compete in a match against German Mischa Zverev.
The ATP suspended Kyrgios for 8 weeks, recommending he seek psychiatric help. Kyrgios, who seems as mystified as fans by his own behavior sometimes, apologized. His suspension can be reduced from eight to three weeks if he agrees to counseling. Kyrgios is one of the very few players on tour who does not employ a coach.
