With emoticons telling her fans to keep their eyes open, Kylie Jenner warned that there is a lot of fake product out there with her name on it. The reality star and model also warned Kylie Cosmetics fans that there are fake MAC Cosmetics (she’s a MAC fan) floating around too, especially in DTLA (that’s downtown LA, for people who missed the Acronym Fair). One way to avoid being scammed on high-end makeup is to visit a vetted online retailer like Macy’s, which features a large selection of MAC Cosmetics. The knockoff fake stuff problem is so big that MAC has a whole section of its website dedicated to educating consumers about counterfeit products.

Online vendors are especially vulnerable to fakes finding their way into the inventory. The hugely popular Kylie Lip Kits and other Kylie products are available direct from Kylie Cosmetics online. At stores other than the major retailers and the Kylie and MAC sites directly, it’s caveat emptor — or buyer beware.
