On the Black Ink Crew: Chicago episode ‘A New Kat-itude,’ Van has been released from boot camp and is back to work at 9 Mag. He’s not happy when he learns that Katrina has her own tattoo studio upstairs and there’s a new tattoo artist in her work space, Junior Diaz. “You all could’ve called me and told me we have a whole new worker.” Junior speaks up and tells Van, “I’m not trying to step on anyone’s toes.” Van says, “No disrespect to you, brother, but we’ve started a family here.” Ryan explains that this is a business and Charmaine tells Van that Kat “has put her hands on me twice” since Van’s been gone. Van points out that he’s been gone for just four months.
