College football kicks off with Notre Dame Fighting Irish playing against the Texas Longhorns on Sunday, September 4. During summer practice, running back Tarean Folston wore a towel around his waist that read: RIP GB 1. GB refers to Folston’s friend and former teammate running back Greg Bryant Jr. On May 8, while leaving a strip club in Florida, Bryant was shot in the head. He was 21.
After being ruled ineligible at Notre Dame in August 2015, Bryant transferred to ASA Miami before making plans to transfer to UAB. Police are still investigating the homicide of Greg Bryant. The Notre Dame vs. Texas game will be televised on ABC on Sunday, August 4 at 7:30pm.
