Tom Brady has the No. 2-selling NFL jersey so far this year — maybe because people miss seeing it so much? (Check back on Week 5 or 6 to see if Brady’s return tempers the sales.) But it’s a rookie who holds the top spot, according to the NFL Shop — and his alliterative, biblical name is Ezekiel Elliott. (The official jersey says “Elliot” on the back, but there’s definitely a market for a jersey with “Zeke” on the back.) Get drafted by “America’s Team” and score a touchdown in each of your first two games — that’ll get you some love.
Other rooks in the Top 15 mix are long-hoped-for Eagles savior Carson Wentz and Jared Goff of the LA Rams, the top two picks in the 2016 draft. While the Rams may be new (again) to California, Goff is a native who did his college business at Cal, having traveled all the way from Marin County across both the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge to do it. Rams fans looking to adopt the new team are happy put California kid Goff’s name on their backs — for now. He’s 15th on the list.
